Elena – Raby Bay Queensland

Sometimes it’s hard to get  a work life balance, you juggle the time you have to travel with the hours on the treadmill of work. When you do get a break, getting away is almost part of the battle. Leaving the office on Friday only to return on Monday leaves you little time to relax, reset and get that”work/life” balance. It’s hard to look at life with a new perspective.

A couple of years ago we discovered a way to hit that reset button without buying a air ticket to somewhere exotic. We found and way to relax and get that refreshed and new perspective. We found a way to leave our weekly hassles on the shoreline and paddle out….

It’s the world of  Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP for short). SUP is the fastest growing water sport in the world at the moment and the momentum for this craze it’s slowing down any time soon.

Brisbane has so much to offer anyone who’s considering a SUP Holiday or just getting onto a SUP for the first time. From rivers  to lakes you don’t even need to mix it up with the surfers.

Learning to SUP

There are as many places to learn to SUP as there are places to paddle in the Brisbane are, but just beyond the city of Brisbane to the North is the Sunshine Coast and to the South is the acclaimed holiday capital of Australia The Gold Coast, so you’re never short of shoreline in Brisbane.

1 Gold Coast – This is a sun lovers dream, with waterways and the surf right on your doorstep. It’s Australia’s holiday capital. For hiring a board head over to Go Vertical SUP Hire  The have all you need and will also teach you how to paddle

2 Brisbane’s bayside has a great little place that we call our home base when we’re paddling. Stop by at Raby Bay Parklands on the weekend and you’ll find Lance form Bay Island SUP. Lance offers everything from board hire to SUP Boot camps with Melissa and the learn to SUP course.

3 Sunshine Coast – One of our favourite places would have to be Cotton Tree at Marochydore . Her you’ll find Ocean Addicts offering hire boards and SUP lessons. Although it can be a bit of a challenge if the wind gets up here. If you want a place with little wind then head a little further north to Noosa and get yourself to Quota Park where there a plenty of board hire places and the most gorgeous river paddle area.

Social Clubs in Brisbane

It’s not always easy when arriving in a new city and finding all the necessary SUP spots so like  SUP Social Brisbane, They paddle all areas of South East Queensland and can point you in the right direction of places to paddle.
