It’s incredible what you can find in a Jetstar onboard magazine. When asked what is a hidden gem in Old Phuket Town we just had to try it ourselves and give it the Globetrotting Couple seal of Approval.

The range of food here is extensive and since being our last night in Phuket for a while I thought that I’d try all dishes that I’d never had so far on my journeys to Thailand. Baby mussels in an omelet washed down with dragon fruit juice. Elena’s opted for her “safe” selection of good old Pad Thai which she said was the best Pad Thai that she’s had so far on the journey. You just have to try the green mango juice here too.

Normally we don’t get to the desert menu but tonight it was on the cards. Following on from the theme df the mIn course we thought we’d give a couple of the ice cream flavours a go. The last time I tried green iced tea ice cream was in Kyoto Japan and that was a few years ago, so I’d thought I’d get reacquainted. Elena saw Durian fruit ice cream and since she had been brave enough to try the fruit previously she ordered it. Funny thing was after a couple of mouthfuls of our deserts it was quickly time to swap. If you’ve never tried Durian the ice cream here at Natural Restaurant is a great was to introduce yourself to the king of the jack fruits.

The Natural Restaurant lives up to its name being surrounded in plants and trees growing up from the floor through the rafters in into the night sky. The owner has just kept adding on new wings and levels and after your meal take a good walk around to discover the surroundings. Find the old T.V converted into a fish tank and marvel at the solid slab wooden table throughout the premises.

I was astounded and wondered why we hadn’t come here sooner. We know without a doubt that this will be one of those out of the way places that we will want to bring friend to next time we are passing through the old town of Phuket.
