Russ Housby was born and raised on fishing, as the son of a prominent angling journalist his future could only be in fishing. He grew up fishing for anything that swam, fly fishing for trout in the chalk streams of England, to fishing for Porbeagle sharks in the English Channel. From the age of 13, his summer holidays were spent in Madeira starting his apprenticeship in Game Fishing. For 9 consecutive summers he lure fished for Blue Marlin with many fish over 800lbs caught and released. During the later part of these 9 years, he was spending the rest of his year fishing in destinations such as Cairns, Bom Bom Island, Ghana and Brazil. All of these places are renowned for Big Marlin.
