Slow Travel On A Budget

This section is currently still under construction – links will be opened once pages are completed – please check back soon or watch fir updates via our facebook  page.

I’ve wanted to research this type of travel for some time, but since we’re still working, and a little way off from our dream of travelling full time slowly around the globe, I thought that starting on the research would be a wise investment in our future travels.

Our budget is going to be frugal by some standards, but we’re confident that we can budget on $100AUD per day and still get to see some pretty amazing places this beautiful planet has to offer. We have spent the last 20 years traveling. Each year our jobs have afforded us with 4 weeks annual  holidays plus the paid government breaks. And each year we’ve cashed in and maximised the opportunity to escape to the far corners of the globe.

We’re not 5 star resort people, although we have stayed in places that command up to $3000AUD for a weekend. We’re pretty low key, boutique hostel and eco backpacker kind of travelers. And with this in mind the research into the little quirky and quaint cities, towns and villages has evolved.

It’s hard to choose one particular place, continent or Island. Each has it’s unique charms and in constructing the research I’ve divided up the globe into 5 parts – I’ve deliberately omitted New Zealand and Australia as these are countries we’ve lived in and we’ll add at a later date.

This page is an extension of our Resource Page, where you can also gather some great sites that we use to plan our travels – click on the globes to take you to each continental destination.

South America

Since 2015, South America as captivated our souls and we’re been busting ourselves to get back. It’s even got is learning Spanish, although it’s a long way to go before breaking into debates over politics. From Chile , Bolivia, Peru and Colombia, we’re really spoilt for choices on such a diverse continent.

North America

We’ve only scratched the surface of the United States, but we’ve fallen for the countries just south of the border. Mexico and Cuba are incredible countries, but there’s so much more we are still yet to explore in this diverse region.

Europe

We always considered Europe as our “safe” travel destination, something we can do when we’re old. I mean it’s full of old castles and stuff right? Things old people like… We’ll after visiting Germany, Spain and Portugal we’re convinced that we need to get back here soon, that is before we get too old.

Asia

Lets face it, Asia was our first love when it comes to travel, and it’s the same with many travellers. I’ve lost count of the trips. Russia, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia,Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali Malaysia, Borneo, United Arab Emirates.

We have two Thailand businesses  – Dental Tours and our Northern Thailand Motorbike Adventures

Africa

A continent we’ve only just discovered and yet so wild and unexplored. Morocco was our first taste and has left us wanting to discover so much more of the ancient world.  I could live in Marrakesh with its hectic medina. There’s something special about the people and the strong roots entrenched in tribal culture that captivates us.
