ARE you a smartly-dressed, single man in your 30s?

Well congratulations, you’re the kind of passenger who’s the most likely to get a flight upgrade. That’s according to a survey of 700 flight attendants around the world by travel website Skyscanner.

Bonus points if you’re flying solo, with 72 per cent of cabin crew saying they were more inclined to upgrade a passenger who was on their own.

Tips: How to score a flight upgrade

Sick and injured passengers could also find themselves on the luckier side in the skies. Two thirds of the crew said those with a broken limb were more likely to be given a seat at the pointier end of the plane.

Frequent flyers are also more likely than most to get an upgrade.

Meanwhile, the passengers least likely to be upgraded include teenage girls, those wearing revealing clothes and travelling in a group.

And it seems passengers will try almost anything for the high life, with three quarters admitting to lying if it improved their chances of an upgrade, 14 per cent would pretend to be newlyweds, 6 per cent would fake an illness or injury, and 7 per cent would ditch their partner so it would appear they’re travelling solo.
