Have you ever noticed that as soon as you make a decision to save for something the huge roadblocks seem to appear out of nowhere? It’s like a Universe is giving you an entrance exam .
Would you be a deserving participant in this life course?
Well I wasn’t entirely shocked when only 2 months into paying off the land changes were made at my work and my income dropped by at least 30%. I was secretly expecting something like that to happen. It always does. It’s there to test you. To see if you break and succumb to defeat and go back to just frivolous spending.
Somehow spending just doesn’t bring up the “tests”.
I was still very grateful that even with a drop my pay was really good ( but no longer exceptional) but suddenly our goal of paying land off within 7 months seemed way off. In December we couldn’t contribute anything towards it but luckily for us ( see, Universe does have a plan) Wayne got offered a second job with much higher pay.
He works 6 days a week now. Then in January we put our beloved motorbike trailer for sale saying final goodbye to the trip around Australia. For now!
In February we got all those extra hours Wayne worked over Christmas and we were fine. Still we were paying only half the amount that we’ve planned.
What else can we do? We have 4 bedrooms in our house and only use 2 so we get a flatmate!
Every little bit now is going towards the loan and I am determined to reach our goal. That’s where our corporate training comes into play, we are used to work towards goals, budgets, stretches and deadlines.
We know we are tested and we’ll have to use all our skills to pass that test.
