Singapore’s a great place to stop on the way to Europe or as a first taste of Asia.

We’ve been here several times and each time there is something new to explore

The hotels here are mixed, some that we have stayed at in the past are now relics of the past and demolished to make way for Singapore’s growth. Then there are some that just should be demolished!

Beach Hotel SingaporeBeach Hotel – We’re usually OK with basic accommodation  but due to the bed bugs and cockroaches found in the bed in the morning we stayed only one night. You can find better hotels and we strongly suggest you do.

Mandarin_Oriental_Hotel_SingaporeMandarin Oriental – Surrounded by the many attractions of Marina Bay,this hotel offers the perfect base from which to discover the city.

New_7th_Storey_HotelNew 7th Storey Hotel – We stayed here in 2003. Back then the old building boasted the oldest working lift in all of Singapore. It was built like the Art Deco iron lifts of the 20’s and It was a great place to stay and a great start for travelling to Singapore on a budget. Sadly on 26 June 2008, the New 7th Storey Hotel was notified and had to leave to make way for the new Bugis MRT Station for the Downtown Line, which is scheduled to open in 2013. The hotel was officially closed. We will always remember the times we had here.
