Beers of Thailand

All-Thai-Beers

After my good friend trying to keep up with me or was it me keeping up with him in. Phuket it’s become apparent the I need to write a blog on beers in Thailand.

There are some distinct brand here that are the mainstay of Thai the drinking culture. Omg is there really a drinking culture and if so who does it apply to? We’ll mostly it’s us tourists who want to let our hair down and chill out in one of the most friendly atmospheres in Asia.

There are four main brands that are available throughout Thailand, sure there are more but if I had to try each one they wouldn’t let me back on the plane to Australia, hang on…. Aussie is famous for beer swilling youths maybe I got a chance.

In no order of preference here’s the most common

  • Chang
  • Singha
  • Leo
  • Tiger

Let’s get into em.

Chiang

Chiang Beer

Like all the locally produced beer you can get it in supermarkets and in local stores
The alcohol content is 6% so drinking one tall or large bottle of 600ml is going to put you over the limit by Australian standards (just as we’ll your in Thailand ). In a bar this is going to set you back up to 200thb, but if you buy from the 711 its a fraction of the price at around 58thb.

Singha

singhabeer

This is personally my choice of beer in Thailand and comes in cans, small and large 600ml bottles – once again, my favourite. I see no point buying smaller bottles and cans ( I never buy cans!) as it takes up valuable drinking and socialising time went you have to head to the fridge.
A 600ml bottle of Singha will set you back 65thb in the local 711. This was the most expensive beer in the fridge.

Leo

Leo Beer

It seems that Leo is the cheapest of the four, however there are cheaper brands if your a little more adventurous. Like all the others it’s the 600ml that is the size of choice when buying. A tall bottle (600ml) was a snap at a mere 49thb, that’s about $1.75AUD

Tiger

Tiger-Beer

Like the others the same packaging sizes apply. Mostly found in convince stores and some food establishments it seems to play a poor cousin to the others (the same applies to Leo). In the posh places you’ll find that the brand change to more of the international brands.
Tiger sells for 57thb for 600ml in our local 711 in Samkong Phuket

What ever you drink in your own country throw caution to the wind and try something different while your here in Thailand. If not for the taste, for the the saving in price.
