What’s the capital in Singapore?

OK, trick question. Singapore is its self not only the capital but also the only city in the country.

Surrounded by Malaysia and Indonesia, Singapore is a collection of 63 Islands with the Main island playing host to the city and main infrastructure of Singapore.

If you’ve never visited any Asian country and want a small taste before amercing yourself deeper into the culture then Singapore is the most ideal spot for you. Singapore is easy to navigate by bus, water taxi (known as Bum Boats) or use the ever effect MRT rail system to get around.

Historic Note – Christmas Island was once governed by Singapore, now its governed by Australia and is used for detaining refugees. The Island was handed over to Australia in 1957.

What’s to see?

It’s a hard question to answer as Singapore caters for such a diverse range of tourists and business people. If your on a budget then Chinatown is the place to stay. During the day you can take in the many street markets or catch a bus to Sentosa Island. This is where the iconic “Merlion” statue looks out across the city. You can climb up inside the statue and peer at the view through the Merlion’s mouth. To get to Sentosa you can either take the bus across the causeway or it you want to flash a chunk of cash you can catch the cable car that will take you up and over the harbour. While on Sentosa you can visit Universal Studio’s or take a walk across the “Bridge of Bones” to Siloso beach. Climb the look out tower here and you’ve just reached the southern most point of the Asian Continent.
