Wednesday, its 2 days before we embark on our journey that will take us through 4 countries over the next month. Times have been stressed of late. Our son has moved out after a huge quarrel and is now moving back home to look after our pets while we are away. the bike is causing us so much grief and is making a rather large dent in my wallet that we have decided to sell it and look for a better machine closer to the time that we are ready to travel around Australia.

The motorbike is at the mechanics and we now have less than 48 hours before we fly.The bags are packed and things are crashing into place. Elena has so much work to do before we leave and I don’t know why I decided to paint the fence in the last week before we travel, maybe its just the release I need to get away from all the pressure.

Thursday – we fly tomorrow and the bike is still in the shop!!!! I need to get it back before we go otherwise it will have to sit there for a month. Saying good byes to workmate and friends we finally reach the end of the day and with a late afternoon phone call from the mechanic, I finally get the bike back and once again my wallet is emptied. I honestly believe that I must have shares in the local bike repair shop with the amount I have spent.

Friday 13th, what a great day to start your journey. Getting up at 5.30am I automatically wander to the computer to check for emails, then as I look at the time I realize that the alarm didn’t go off and we a re now half an hour late. Waking Elena and rushing her is no easy task at the best of times so I felt accomplished when she was ready to travel within 20 minutes.

We had to drive to Coolengatta on the Gold Coast to depart and my concern was the traffic as this was a 100km journey, but my fears were settle as we arrived with plenty of time to spare.
8 hours later we were in Singapore.
